EXPERIENCE:

START DATE:
Mid March 2024

Our operation is a working cattle ranch with guests from all over the world. Our horses are some of the hardest working ranch horses. We do conformation-based shoeing at the ranch, and all of our horses thrive on it.  In coming out here, we would require that you be open to the way we like our horses shod. We need to keep the shoeing style consistent in our herd between you, and our other current part-time farriers. You will also have the good fortune of working one-on-one with our master farrier every 6 weeks!

The ideal candidate would be able to run the shoeing schedule, take care of ordering materials, and have a firm understanding to be able to show guests the principles of horseshoeing. As a ranch with many working parts, we need someone who is flexible and willing to help wherever needed. We also study the Buck-Brannaman style of horsemanship which is carried throughout our shoeing process. All of our horses are supported through good horsemanship to maintain straightness, softness and confidence between horse and farrier. This person would also be a self-motivator, friendly, a problem solver, and ready to become another member of the family.

This position is best suited to someone who enjoys the outdoors and a remote location.  Must have own vehicle.  MUST HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD!  We are 40 minutes from the nearest small town, about an hour from the city of Kalispell and about 2 hours from Glacier National Park.  This is a great area for hiking and mountain biking!  There is no cell service on the ranch, but we do have Wi-Fi and landlines.  Room and board is provided.  You will receive tips on top of your salary, and we offer an end-of-season bonus as well.  401k and Health Insurance is available to full time employees.  Pay DOE.
